Matsu is one of the most recognizable Spanish wines. The labels feature real people who have dedicated their lives to the land and winemaking in Toro, Spain. The ingenious design allows you to immediately understand whether the wine inside is young or aged: three generations of winemakers, whose age corresponds to the contents, look at us from the labels.
The pearl of the collection is a recent release: white malvasia, embodied in a female character. The images were created by Bela Adler and Salvador Fresneda. Star photographers shot for such brands and magazines as Loewe and Burberry, Levi’s and Gap, Vogue and Marie Claire, Nike and BMW.
The name of the estate fully reflects its philosophy: «matsu» in Japanese means «to wait». Vintae, originally a Rioja company, came here to preserve the old traditions of Toro winemaking: family life, the experience of fathers, manual labor, intuitive understanding of terroir and the ability to freeze in contemplative anticipation of a miracle — the birth of wine. In a technological world, such an approach is already a rarity.
The bodega works side by side with old families of winegrowers who own centuries-old, gnarled vines. Such a heritage requires careful treatment, so organic and biodynamic methods are practiced in the vineyards. Each wine in the Matsu family is the fruit of conscious and painstaking manual work, created without interference in the creation process.
